3/5/1992 The Financial Post Phoney filing shakes auditors Robert Lindquist, a partner in Toronto and a well-known forensic accountant, agrees such fraud is rare. He said he had come across a few fake audit reports, all in investment scams, but they didn’t use the names of well-known accounting firms, involved private companies, and took place several years ago. Lindquist believes that latest incident has a positive side. “It keeps people on their toes; sometimes regulators tend to rubber-stamp such filings.”
